BEACH 1 DEVELOPMENT

I WILL continue to work to ensure that the Beach 1 redevelopment is World Class for residents & tourist guests

I have diligently worked to ensure that the redevelopment is a world-class place for both residents and tourists. I will continue to lobby for residents to have more information and input related to the redevelopment. In my opinion, we need to ensure that the development agreement contains venues for entertainment, culinary, and water view observation areas consistent with world-class waterfront tourist destinations.

 

We also need to ensure that adequate parking and potential traffic issue solutions are implemented in conjunction with the Beach 1 redevelopment. I would not support extending the cash-in-lieu parking option to the Beach 1 development as it would result in considerable expense being burdened by the Wasaga Beach taxpayer. That an independent third-party financial audit be completed to confirm that the preferred developer has the financial means to complete the entire project on time. That the developer's investment in community improvements be clearly defined prior to approving a purchase of sale agreement, including the development of Festival Square in conjunction with the development of phase one.

 

Lobby the Provincial and Federal governments to support this important development with grant funding. Most importantly, I will continue to work to ensure that the taxpayer receives a fair price for the taxpayer owned Beach 1 lands. Fair value is a combination of what the developer pays for the land, their financial contribution to required infrastructure and community improvements.
